Documented prerequisites
| Component | Windows | Linux AppImage |
|---|---|---|
| System | Windows 10 1903+ or Windows 11, 64-bit | x86-64 Linux; glibc 2.39+ |
| CPU | 64-bit with AVX | AVX-capable x86-64 CPU |
| Graphics | Vulkan 1.3 and a current driver | Vulkan 1.3 driver |
| Game | Your own extracted PS4 Remastered files | Your own extracted PS4 Remastered files |
The maintainer names Intel Sandy Bridge or newer and AMD FX or newer as examples of AVX-capable generations. Those names are a starting point for checking the exact processor model, not a promise that every system using one of them will run the game well.
On older AVX-capable processors that lack certain later instructions, the loader rewrites affected instructions and logs an ISA: line. Performance on those older CPUs has not been measured in the release README. CPUs missing a required capability stop with a STOP: this CPU lacks message.
Check the GPU and driver
Find your exact graphics model and installed driver version, then check the manufacturer’s specifications and current driver information for Vulkan 1.3 support. A browser’s graphics API result does not reliably establish that this runtime can use Vulkan 1.3.
The release notes report problems on particular Intel integrated GPUs and the RX 580, as well as issues on other systems. Passing the API requirement does not establish gameplay compatibility. Check known issues and troubleshooting before spending time changing settings.
No universal minimum RAM, VRAM or free storage requirement is specified in the release README. This guide does not invent one. The program package is much smaller than the game’s files, and shader caches can grow substantially.
Recognize the game folder
The folder selected in the launcher should contain these items:
your-game-folder/
eboot.bin
sce_module/
sce_sys/
The maintainer lists CUSA01623 and CUSA01715, with game versions 01.00 and 01.02, as tested. Check the ID and version detected on the launcher’s Home page. A different ID or version has not been established by those documented tests.
This project targets the PS4 remaster. The original PS3 God of War III is a different executable and uses a different save format. Downloading the program cannot replace the game files you need to supply.
Storage, memory and shader caches
The download page shows the exact program asset size from GitHub metadata. That number is not an installed-game storage requirement. Leave room for your own game files, preparation output and caches.
The 2.4.0 known-issues list says shader caches can exceed 20 GB. If you are short on disk space, identify the actual cache and save locations before deleting anything. Clearing a shader cache forces later rebuilding and is not a general remedy for every graphics problem.
A Windows cannot create ... guest memory (error 1450) error points to virtual memory allocation. Check system memory and page-file configuration before assuming the ZIP or GPU is the cause. Back up important data and use operating-system guidance when changing system settings.
Decide your next step
- Requirements checked and game folder ready: follow Windows setup or Linux setup.
- Unsure about a title ID, driver or CPU: check that item before installing.
- Requirements met but the game fails: capture the log and match the reported symptom.
The checklist on the homepage records your own answers. It cannot benchmark your PC or certify compatibility.
Check the source
Instructions are based on the release README and 2.4.0 known issues carried into 2.4.1. Source changes can arrive before downloadable packages. We have not benchmarked the game.
